When you go to San Francisco. . .

. . . flowers in your hair aren't necessary, but seeing several things are.

If you get there in June, you may catch the Frameline International LGBT Film Festival.
It is definitely worth checking out. I saw two movies (of hundreds, it seems) this year.
They were: Follow My Voice: With the Music of Hedwig (a documentary on the creation of a benefit cd to raise money for the Harvey Milk High School) and Time to Leave (Le temps qui reste), a French piece about living, dying, and, well, that sums it up.

I highly recommend having dinner at Dosa, a restaurant that serves southern Indian food.
Delish.

And the best place to stay? The Village House on 18th Street, in the heart of the Castro. Just for the record, The Village House is a gay B&B, but they don't mind us heteros taking up residence.

Tengu out.

PS
If you visit San Francisco in June, remember your sunblock.

A day all dogs would bark, hark! hark!

Tengu of the Park.

This is my dog, Tengu. The penultimate goblin pup.
She was a special helper and object of inspiration at the first ever Bark Park Poetry event for dogs held in April.

Her favorite part?
Finding doggie biscuits in the pockets of new friends.

Free Comic Book Day

Free Comic Book Day was May 6.
Several places in Greensboro participated. Most notably, Acme Comics on Lawndale Drive held events all day. In addition to picking up the free comics that were printed especially for this day (complete with "Free Comic Book Day" logo across the top), Acme also had local comic artists on site to discuss their work and sign comics.

The Central Branch of the Greensboro Public Library also held a Free Comic Book Day event. As I was entering the library to attend a meeting, I saw happy, expectant little kids working their way into the room set aside for passing out the comics and showing comic-related video.

So what were the comics in *my* Free Comic Book Day bag of sunshine?

Appropriate for everyone:
X-Men: Runaways
Archie: 65th Anniversary Bash
Donald Duck
Batman/Superman #1
Transformers: Infiltration
Star Wars/Conan
Owly: Breaking the Ice
Bongo: Free-For-All (based on The Simpsons series)

Just for us adult folks:
